Training & Behavior Center! Please be patient as we update our website with the name and logo revision. We hope you like the new name and logo as much as we do! We have also invested in renovations to our training center and agility yard, so be ready to visit our new and improved physical location as well as the website and Facebook page. Welcome to The Good Paws! Training & Behavior Center (formerly known as The Good Dog! Training & Behavior Center.)
The Good Paws! Training & Behavior Center specializes in one-on-one training for you and your pet.
Good Paws! trains dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds. Cats, birds, mice, hamsters, fish, and other domestic and exotic pets are welcomed as well.

Good Paws! uses positive training methods based on the principles of operant conditioning, also known as "clicker training" or "marker training." No harsh training methods are used. Examples of harsh training methods would be prong collars, shock collars, or hitting an animal because we think the animal is "stubborn" or "knows" what we want the animal to do.

Good Paws! has a reputation for innovative and caring approaches to training your pet under the leadership and guidance of the Owner and experienced Trainer, Rachel Dunham-Tatum.

At Good Paws! Training & Behavior Center, training happens all the time! Good Paws! is an expert in problem behaviors. Problem behaviors are behaviors that interfere with the relationship between you and your pet. They may be perfectly normal behaviors for your pet (for example, a cat scratching his claws on the couch), but this normal behavior may not be acceptable in your home. Good Paws! is able to offer you guidance and training to help you prevent your pet from continuing problem behaviors and instead pursue other, more appropriate pet behaviors. This often means the use of behavior management and behavior modification.

Of course we also offer lessons for you and your pet even if you do not have a problem behavior for us to address. You may want to enhance a quality relationship with your pet or you may have a specific goal in mind such as passing the CGC test.

Rachel has been professionally training dogs in College Station since 2000. She is an experienced member of a multi-dog and multi-pet home and enjoys working with rescue and foster animals. Rachel is an avid student of the behavioral sciences and has been trained to work with all species of animals, from chickens to horses and llamas to rabbits.
Rachel devotes herself to her family and her business. She loves singing in her church choir, scuba diving, navigating for her pilot husband, and escaping from the big cities of Bryan/College Station to the lake or the hill country every now and then. Rachel is also active in professional development organizations including ABWA (American Business Women's Association) and APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers.) Rachel and her husband Travis have Border Collies, a terrier mix, goldfish, and usually a foster dog.
