"Odessa Physical Therapy (OPT) was founded in 1982 by two local physical therapists, Larry Feeler and Chris Robichaud. They recognized the growing need for an outpatient, rehabilitation facility that could meet the unique needs of the Permian Basin. The OPT owners and staff are honored to be voted the Best Rehab Facility as it just reinforces their dedication to patient care for over 24 years. We want to thank the medical professionals and patients who continue to experience the OPT difference.
In response to the overwhelming support of the community, OPT moved to its current location at 4407 N Grandview in 1990. This state of the art facility has over 17,500 square feet of space and is still one of the largest privately owned out patient facilities in the United States. Our facility includes a 60-foot heated swimming pool with a large workout area, swim lanes, and locker rooms with showers. We also have a large sports medicine gymnasium with over 50 pieces of workout equipment, free weights, five state of the art computerized hand and joint testing machines, a balance assessment and treatment device, and the latest in sports medicine equipment including cold laser therapy. OPT is proud to have grown to employ 37 people including 11 licensed therapists.
In 1986, OPT developed a "virtual" job specific testing system for new-hires, existing workers and injured workers. Due to the enormous reduction in injury claims for the companies utilizing the test systems, OPT created WorkSTEPS, which has grown to become the largest employment testing company in the nation. WorkSTEPS now tests for thousands of employers and has over 700 licensed test sites in all 50 states. Thousands of therapists and doctors across the United States have continually been trained right here in Odessa.
